Playbill revealed that the free stream will be showcased in a partnership with Disney Theatrical Productions and Disney+ for one night only on Playbill.com. The agenda will include appearances by the cast members of the hit Broadway show along with a concluding video that will showcase performances from the Broadway and North American tour productions.

The show will benefit The Actor's Fund, a organization placing emphasis on protecting performers in the entertainment industry over their lifetime, while offering stability and resiliency for performers during the coronavirus pandemic.

The cast of Newsies features thespian icon Jeremy Jordan as Jack Kelly, Kara Lindsay as Katherine Plumber, Ben Fankhauser as Davey and Andrew Keenan-Bolger as Crutchie. North American tour standouts Steve Blanchard (Joseph Pulitzer), Aisha de Haas (Medda Larkin) and Ethan Steiner (Les) round out the cast.

The score was penned by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman, with Harvey Fierstein penning the book. It also features musical direction by Jeff Calhoun and Christopher Gattelli as the choreographer.

While inspired by the real-life Newsboy Strike of 1899, the show was originally presented as a movie in 1992. Seven new songs were written for the musical including "Letter from the Refuge" (specifically written for the tour), as well as "Carrying the Banner", "Seize The Day", "Santa Fe" and "King of New York."
