NBC

Oscar and Emmy nominated actor Ned Beatty passed away of natural causes on Sunday, June 13th, at the age of 83, his manager Deborah Miller announced.

Beatty was best known for his role as hot headed businessman Arthur Jensen in the critically acclaimed 1976 film "Network", where he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor. In the film, he gave a legendary monologue about the power of the media over society.

His breakthrough iconic role was playing the optimistic Bobby in the 1972 thriller film "Deliverance". He was also the voice of Lotso, the main antagonist, in Toy Story 3. His Emmy nominations are Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Special for the ABC war drama "Friendly Fire" in 1979, and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Special in 1990's Last Train Home.

Born July 6th, 1937, and raised in Kentucky, Beatty got his start in the entertainment business at the age of 10 as a singer, performing in choirs and barbershop quartets. He was married four times, and had eight collective children with his first three wives.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Beatty's family and friends during this time.
