After its release has been pushed back multiple times due to the pandemic, the live action Mulan is finally being released on the Disney+ streaming platform on September 4th for an additional $30.

As the next live-action adaptation, Mulan was set to release in theaters on March 27th, but this date was pushed back multiple times due to the pandemic, originally being taken off the calendar. Yesterday, Disney announced that the film would be coming to their streaming platform on September 4th, but not without a catch.

On top of the $6.99/ month subscription cost, viewing Mulan will cost fans another $29.99. The film will still play at select theaters where Disney+ is not available and theaters are allowed to operate.

Disney CEO Bob Chapek said about the decision:

"We thought it was important to find alternative ways to bring this exceptional family friendly film to them in a timely manner."

This decision follows other VOD releaes such as Scoob and Trolls: World Tour, just at a higher price tag and may indicate the future of movie premieres for Disney.
