Ted Danson has a television and film career that is rivaled by few. Now, the legendary actor is joining forces with comedic mastermind Tina Fey for a brand new NBC sitcom called Mr. Mayor.
The team that put together 30 Rock and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is back again, returning to NBC with a motley of A-list actors. Starring Ted Danson, Holly Hunter, Kyla Kenedy, and Bobby Monihayn, the new series follows retired businessman Neil Bremer who runs for Mayor in Los Angeles. To everyone's surprise, he wins. However, Tina Fey says the show isn't necessarily about politics:
"This is definitely not a show about politics. It's a show about people, relationships within the workplace, and also about parenting and how scared you can be of your teenager."
Danson's character is a single dad, and his teenage daughter pushes him to get involved in politics. From Cheers to The Good Place, it's safe to say Danson knows how to make the most of out any role. When talking about Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, he shares his philosophy about working with great people:
"With people like Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, they almost don't have to write a script. You want to be a part of whatever they're doing. That's kind of my philosophy in acting. Go find the brightest people in in the room and then say, "Can I be a part of whatever you're doing?"
Watch the series premiere of Mr. Mayor tonight at 8/7c on NBC.
