Amanda Seyfried and Meryl Streep

The most heartwarming films usually have a mother at the core, including the films we have listed with our favorite movie moms.

We're celebrating Mother's Day Weekend with the best mothers from film, past and present.

Donna From 'Mamma Mia!' (2008)

We all wish we had a Donna in our lives. Played by Meryl Streep, Donna from Mamma Mia! finds herself in quite the scuffle after her daughter Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) reaches out to three men who may possibly be her father. Regardless, Donna's (semi)main focus is to give her baby girl the best wedding ever.

The adventurous mother once said,

"Life is short, the world is wide. I want to make some memories."

Vi Rose Hill From 'Joyful Noise' (2012)

Vi Rose Hill from Joyful Noise has taken the position as choir director after the untimely death of their former director (Kris Kristofferson). Balancing the church and her children (Keke Palmer and Dexter Darden), while her husband is deployed, puts Vi in some sticky situations at times, but she comes around at the end.

Portrayed by Queen Latifah, Vi isn't afraid to put anyone back in their place praising,

"I am an incandescent, board certified, super model baby!"

Marmee March From 'Little Women' (2019)

Marmee March (Laura Dern) of Little Women has never had it easy. While her husband (Bob Odenkirk) is away fighting in the war, Marmee has to hold down the fort with her four daughters: Jo (Saoirse Ronan), Meg (Emma Watson), Amy (Florence Pugh), and Beth (Eliza Scanlen).

As every mother experiences, Marmee has to break up the fights between her girls as well, once teaching Jo the art of forgiveness.

"Jo, don't let the sun go down on your anger. Forgive her. Help each other, and you begin again tomorrow."

The Moms of 'Bad Moms' (2016)

The moms of the Bad Moms franchise are one word: iconic. Each at the snapping points of their lives, these mothers begin learning how to put their wants and mental stability as a top priority. Amy (Mila Kunis), Carla (Kathryn Hahn), and Kiki (Kristen Bell) will always put their kids first, while also having a little fun.

With her gal pals, Amy rants on what every mom feels at their core,

"We all work too damn hard trying to make our kids' lives amazing and magical. Their lives are already amazing and magical."

Leigh Anne Tuohy From 'The Blind Side' (2009)

Leigh Anne Tuohy was already a mother to two (Jae Head and Lily Collins) when she brought Michael (Quinton Aaron) into the family. Portrayed by Sandra Bullock, Leigh Anne is a feisty woman who will stand up for her family against anything.

Leigh Anne of The Blind Side once said,

"Courage is a hard thing to figure. You can have courage based on a dumb idea or mistake, but you're not supposed to question adults, or your coach or your teacher, because they make the rules."

Monica From 'Minari' (2020)

Minari introduced the world to some of the most down-to-earth characters. Portrayed by Yeri Han, Monica may seem cold on the outside, but it comes from a place of wanting a better life for her children.

Tess Coleman From 'Freaky Friday' (2003)

A legendary mother-daughter duo takes the form of Tess and Anna Coleman (Lindsay Lohan). Portrayed by Jamie Lee Curtis, Tess gets put in a position where she has to put her daughter first... they literally switch bodies. Along the way, Tess learns to value her daughter as an intelligent woman with a bright future.

As a reminder to all of us Tess of Freaky Friday preaches,

"Make good choices!"

Tanya Anderson From 'Akeelah and the Bee' (2006)

Angela Bassett portrays the role of Tanya in Akeelah and the Bee, mother to Akeelah (Keke Palmer) a spelling bee prodigy. Like all moms, Tanya wants the best for her daughter and is always there to support her, once telling Akeelah,

"You know, Akeelah, you ain't short on people who want to help you. I bet if you just look around, you got 50,000 coaches. Starting with me."

Mrs. George From 'Mean Girls' (2004)

Mrs. George isn't just a regular mom, she's a cool mom. Portrayed by Amy Poehler, Mrs. George will do anything, and I mean anything, to look cool in the eyes of her daughter Regina (Rachel McAdams).

The fun mom quoted one of the most notable lines in Mean Girls when she said,

"I just want you to know, if you ever need anything, don't be shy, OK? There are NO rules in the house. I'm not like a *regular* mom, I'm a *cool* mom."

The Mothers From 'The Joy Luck Club' (1993)

If you want to cry about how much you love your mom, watch The Joy Luck Club. Starring Ming-Na Wen, The Joy Luck Club explores the lives of four East Asian women and their lives before and after children.

Daughter Waverly (Tamlyn Tomita) taught us all an amazing lesson on self-worth once stating,

"I knew I had an amazing gift: this power, this belief in myself, to be better than anyone else. If someone was bigger than me, older than me, it didn't matter. And if they were mean, I could make them sorry."

To all mothers, thank you for all that you do for us and we wish you the most special Mother's Day!
