Minnie Mouse has a bold new redesign with a Stella McCartney power suit!
In honor of Disneyland Paris' thirtieth anniversary, the company decided to celebrate with something special. The celebration, which will be during Women's History Month in March, will showcase a beloved character's newest look.
Minnie Mouse, usually seen in her red and white (or pink and white) polka dot dress, is now sporting a navy blue and black pantsuit, designed by daughter of Beatles legend Paul McCartney, Stella McCartney. The British designer shared,
"I am delighted to be working with the one, the only, the iconic Minnie Mouse. Minnie has always had a special place in my heart. We share the same values. What I love about Minnie is the fact that she embodies happiness, self-expression, authenticity and that she inspires people of all ages around the world. Plus, she has such great style."
McCartney gushed relaying her excitement over the opportunity, and shared her process going into the redesign--
"I wanted Minnie to wear her very first pantsuit at Disneyland Paris, so I have designed one of my iconic costumes–a blue tuxedo–using responsibly sourced fabrics. This new take on her signature polka dots makes Minnie Mouse a symbol of progress for a new generation."
Disneyland Paris wishes to begin "a new era" that is "marked by transformation, limitless creativity and new technology," and set out to do so with a modern, inclusive look for one of their most iconic characters.
The celebration will kick off on March 6.
