When Creed hit theaters, it reinvigorated the storied Rocky franchise, delivering new blood in the form of Michael B. Jordan's Adonis and giving Sylvester Stallone's Rocky a new purpose. Now, its sequel continues the story with a new rival continuing the legacy of Rocky's greatest challenger.
Michael B. Jordan and Castmates Talk Creed II
As the eighth film in the Rocky saga, Creed II reunites Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone, but it also reunites Philadelphia with its greatest fictional champion. We asked Jordan what it was like doing scenes with Sly in the City of Brotherly Love.
“Whenever Sly walks around it’s like seeing a unicorn out in public.”
Co-star Tessa Thompson had her own surreal experience filming with Stallone.
“It hits you at different moments. We’ll be doing a scene and Sly is in the ring, and suddenly everybody is chanting ‘Rocky! Rocky!’ and I’m like ‘Oh, right. Rocky Balboa.’”
Florian Munteanu plays Victor Drago, the son of Rocky IV's returning villain Ivan Drago, played by Dolph Lundgren. We asked Munteanu what it meant to take on such a role as he sat beside Lundgren himself.
“I knew that I can’t take this chance for granted, especially to play the son of such an iconic role, of a true legend here, so you have to play it with honor and respect.”
You can see the son of Apollo Creed take on the son of Ivan Drago in Creed II, stepping into theaters on November 21st.
