Meghan Markle scored a great victory against British newspaper The Mail On Sunday for the publication of a private letter between Markle and her father.

The Court of Appeal ruled in her favor after The Mail On Sunday reproduced a handwritten letter that Markle had sent her father, Thomas Markle, after marrying Prince Harry in 2018.
In a statement delivered this morning, Thursday December 2nd, the Duchess of Sussex called the ruling a victory:
"This is a victory not just for me, but for anyone who has ever felt scared to stand up for what's right," Markle said.
But standing up for what's right is not sufficient. Markle wants to change the conversation around the way tabloids profit from people in the public eye while exploiting their privacy and delivering false information.
"What matters most is that we are now collectively brave enough to reshape a tabloid industry that conditions people to be cruel, and profits from the lies and pain that they create," Markle said.

Thanks to this victory, Markle can now expect financial damages from The Mail On Sunday and a public apology as well. Markle, however, is very clear that these situations occur all the time and a plan of action should be required.
"These harmful practices don't happen once in a blue moon. They are a daily fail that divide us and we all deserve better," Markle said.
Congratulations to the Duchess of Sussex for this important victory.
