From Mayor to Potential President
Secretary Pete Buttigieg has had quite the journey. An Afghanistan veteran turned South Bend, Indiana Mayor to now United States Secretary of Transportation has not been the smoothest sail.
Mayor Pete follows Buttigieg as the first out Democrat to run for President until his candidacy withdrawal on March 1, 2020.
Major Biden and Harris Advocate
Buttigieg's withdrawal didn't stop the mayor from campaigning for the Democratic party in the slightest. As one of the biggest advocates for President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, Buttigieg took stayed on the campaign trail up until the very end.
Buttigieg was recognized for his efforts and awarded the 2020 LGBTQ Nation Newsmaker of the Year accolade.
Now U.S. Secretary of Transportation
On February 2, around two weeks after the Presidential Inauguration of Joe Biden, the Senate confirmed Buttigieg as the Secretary of Transportation and the former candidate was sworn in by Vice President Kamala Harris with husband right next to him.
First Open Democratic Candidate
Buttigieg and his husband Chasten Glezman have been married since 2018 and are going strong. Glezman, a teacher, has been nothing but supportive of Buttigieg's journey.
As the first out LGBTQ+ couple of a Presidential Campaign, it was important to Glezman that the two advocate for love and continue to fight for those who feel unseen. The documentary will dig further into the two's relationship along the trail and give audience members an insight into the trials and tribulations the two were faced with head on.
