Maren Morris Celebrates Tucker Carlson's Firing at Fox News

"Happy Monday, MotherTucker," the country musician wrote on Twitter.

On Monday, right-wing network Fox News suddenly announced that they had "parted ways" with longtime host Tucker Carlson. The firing ended the highest-viewed news program in the country, but not everyone was disappointed.

Country musician Maren Morris took to Instagram to celebrate the termination of Carlson, who had previously called her a "lunatic country music person" for supporting transgender rights. She wrote, alongside a screencap from the story, "Happy Monday, MotherTucker."

In Fall last year, country singer Jason Aldean's wife, Brittany, disparaged the parents of trans youth by accusing them of "genital mutilation." In response, Morris tweeted: "It’s so easy to, like, not be a scumbag human? Sell your clip-ins and zip it, Insurrection Barbie."

Carlson afterwards slammed Morris on his program, prompting her to clap back by turning the "lunatic" insult into a t-shirt line. All of the proceeds went to the Trans Lifeline and the GLAAD Transgender Media Program, raising over $150,000.

On several occasions over the past year, Carlson has attacked the LGBTQ+ community, particularly transgender individuals and their families. He previously said healthcare for trans youth allows people to “basically molest and abuse children," and that hospitals offering gender-affirming care deserve to receive bomb threats.

Fox News did not say why Carlson was being terminated, but the network had just settled a lawsuit brought by dominion voting systems over the network's false claims about the 2020 presidential election. The network was ordered to pay $1.6 billion, which was reduced to $787 million.

“FOX News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways," the network said. "We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor.”

Carlson was also a proponent of vitriol against drag queens. After his firing, Morris shared another graphic on Instagram, which read, "the only tuckers allowed are the drag queens."
