A few weeks after canceling hit TV show Love Island for the summer, ITV has extended the cancellation to the 2021 winter edition due to the uncertainty of the coronavirus pandemic.
While this is bad news, ITV plans to extend the summer version of Love Island, including extending the number of episodes!
Winter Love Island was only created this year and was to be presented by Laura Whitmore. After an assault charge against previous host Caroline Flack and her tragic death mid-way through the season, the show began a search for a new host.
Kevin Lygo, Director of Television at ITV had a few statements on the matter at hand through Love Island's Instagram.
"We have tried every which way to make Love Island this summer but logistically it's just not possible to produce it in a way that safeguards the wellbeing of everyone involved and that for us is the priority. In normal circumstances we would be preparing very soon to travel out to the location in Mallorca to get the villa ready but clearly that's now out of the question."
