Watch the Newest Teaser for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

After eight years, the next chapter of "Lord of the Rings" is finally beginning!

On Wednesday, Amazon released a sneak peek into the upcoming television series, "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power," exclusively to Prime members.

The show’s official synopsis reveals that it will take place in a time that has not yet been explored in the "The Lord of the Rings" franchise. The series is set during the “Second Age of Middle-earth's history," thousands of years before J.R.R. Tolkien’s "The Hobbit" and "Lord of the Rings" books. The summary explains,

“An era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness.”

Fans are excited to see the return of their favorite characters, despite the show taking place in a completely different time period. As some of Middle Earth's residents live to be thousands of years old, beloved figure Galadriel will return with Morfydd Clark portraying her.

In an interview with Empire, Clark shared her experience entering the franchise. She said,

“It was like being on a school trip! I got to do swimming, riding, climbing…”

Previously played by Cate Blanchett, Clark plans on giving Galadriel a unique spin, adding,

“I had to find that balance between someone who has got an element of the eternal but hasn’t yet seen it all. Don’t expect the same character that you meet later on.”

Clark will be starring alongside Robert Aramayo as Elrond, and Markella Kavenagh as Elanor 'Nori' Brandyfoot. The director, J.A. Bayona, has five seasons planned for the series.

Premiering on Prime Video September 2nd, the full trailer for "Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power" is currently only available for Amazon Prime members. Until then, check out the newest clip released to Youtube.
