Lili Reinhart Slams Kim Kardashian for 'Harmful' Dieting; Kim Responds

Lili Reinhart Slams Kim Kardashian for 'Harmful' Dieting; Kim Responds
Instagram

Lili Reinhart won't stand for diet culture.

The "Riverdale" actress took to social media the day after the Met Gala to voice her strong opinions on the lengths some stars went to in order to achieve their red carpet looks. She wrote in an Instagram story,

"To walk on a red carpet and do an interview where you say how starving you are... because you haven't eaten carbs in the last month...all to fit in a f--king dress? So wrong. So f----d on 100s of levels."

While she didn't mention the socialite by name, all clues pointed to Kim Kardashian being the subject of her self-proclaimed "rant." Kardashian had opened up in a statement to Vogue where she admitted she lost sixteen pounds in the three weeks before the event to fit into her chosen dress.

Reinhart continued her response,

"To openly admit to starving yourself for the sake of the Met Gala. When you know very well that millions of young men and women are looking up to you and listening to your every word. The ignorance is other-worldly disgusting."

Kardashian had confessed she "would wear a sauna suit twice a day, run on the treadmill, completely cut out all sugar and all carbs and just eat the cleanest veggies and protein" in order to lose weight. She added,

"I didn't starve myself, but I was so strict."

While Kardashian's personal trainer has come forward to assure the public her weight loss was done safely, Reinhart maintains that she still contributes to the harmful culture around body image. She finished her posted,

"Please stop supporting these stupid, harmful celebrities whose entire image revolves around their bodies. I am not generally an angry person but I swear to god, the toxicity of this industry sometimes really gets to me."

Kardashian seemed to take notice of criticism after the fact, conceding in her own Instagram story. While the socialite did not directly address Reinhart, she wrote,

"Be teachable. Be open. You're not always right."
