LeBron James has made headlines by opening his first I Promise School, but he's just the latest in a line of celebrities making an impact on education.
LeBron James - I Promise
As a basketball superstar, LeBron James has always been someone to look up to, both literally and figuratively, but his newest project puts him heads above.
The I Promise School is a public institution funded by James in his hometown of Akron, Ohio. It's his way of giving back to the community that made him who he is.
The school provides free meals, free bicycles, and free college education, but, perhaps most importantly, it's a way of letting kids know that someone cares about them.
Pitbull - SLAM Academy
Mr. 305 became Mr. Education in 2013 when he opened the first SLAM charter school in Miami. Since then, Mr. Worldwide has taken the program nationwide coast-to-coast.
SLAM Academy provides education in sports leadership and management, opening eyes, broadening horizons, and providing a foundation for young and ambitious talent.
Oprah Winfrey - Leadership Academies
As the Queen of the Universe, it's no surprise that Oprah would think big when making her mark on education. Her international Leadership Academy in South Africa has been serving underprivileged girls since 2007.

With her Leadership Academy, Oprah has been leading by example for over a decade.
