Kid Cudi is letting fans know where he stands with Kanye West.
The rapper took to Twitter after fans learned of a track on Pusha T’s upcoming album, “It’s Almost Dry," that features both Cudi and West. Cudi confirmed the collaboration on the record, but claimed that the two are still on unfriendly terms. He explained in a tweet that the song was recorded before their falling out, writing,
“Hey! So I know some of you heard about the song I got w Pusha. I did this song a year ago when I was still cool w Kanye."
Hey! So I know some of you heard about the song I got w Pusha. I did this song a year ago when I was still cool w Kanye. I am not cool w that man. He's not my friend and I only cleared the song for Pusha cuz thats my guy. This is the last song u will hear me on w Kanye -Scott— The Chosen One : I 💖 YOU FRESHIE 4EVER (@The Chosen One : I 💖 YOU FRESHIE 4EVER) 1650375756
He explained that he's "not cool" with Kanye, and that he only allowed Pusha T to use the track out of respect for him. He finished,
“This is the last song u will hear me on w Kanye.”
West and Cudi have collaborated on many songs over the years, and even released a joint album in 2018, “Kids See Ghosts." Their falling out came earlier this year, when West cut Cudi from his "Donda 2" album over his friendship with Pete Davidson, the current boyfriend of West's ex-wife, Kim Kardashian. At the time, West wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post,
“JUST SO EVERYONE KNOWS, CUDI WILL NOT BE ON DONDA BECAUSE HE’S FRIENDS WITH YOU KNOW WHO."
Cudi shared his side shortly after, writing in a Tweet,
“We talked weeks ago about this. You’re whack for flipping the script and posting this lie just for a look on the internet. You ain’t no friend. BYE.”
He later added via Instagram,
“Too bad I don’t wanna be on ur album you f–kin dinosaur hahaha everyone knows I’ve been the best thing about ur albums since i met u. ima pray for you brother.”
The full track-list for Pusha T's “It’s Almost Dry” is not available yet, but there are confirmed appearances from Jay-Z, Lil Uzi Vert and Don Toliver. West and Pharrell Williams are co-producers on the album. Kanye West and Kid Cudi's last song together will be released Friday, April 22.
