Kevin Spacey Charged With Sexual Assault in England

Netflix, House of Cards

Kevin Spacey has been charged with four counts of sexually assaulting three men in the UK.

On Thursday, the Crown Prosecution Service revealed that the charges "follow a review of evidence gathered by the Metropolitan Police." The incidents allegedly happened in England between 2005 and 2013.

According to the agency, he “has also been charged with causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent.”

The Oscar-winner's career came to a shocking halt in 2017, when actor Anthony Rapp accused Spacey of assaulting him, as a teenager, at a party in the '80s. More than a dozen men and teen boys came forward that year, accusing the "American Beauty" star of sexual harassment and assault. Soon after, Spacey was fired from his starring role on Netflix's hit series "House of Cards."

Though Spacey denied the allegations, he did issue a public apology to Rapp on Twitter. In the statement, he revealed that he did not remember the encounter but still "owed him the sincerest apology."

"I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior, and I am sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him all these years," Spacey wrote.

Last month, Spacey asked a judge to dismiss Rapp's sexual abuse lawsuit, alleging that the events Rapp described never happened.
