The Kelly Clarkson Show is a little over a year old and has already made a tumultuous impact on the world of daytime talk shows, winning multiple awards and high praise.
Host Kelly Clarkson
Kelly Clarkson hosts the daily aired award-winning talk show on NBC. Clarkson isn't new to the NBC network, as she has been a judge on The Voice (2011-present) for four seasons, winning three.
Clarkson broke out after being crowned the first winner of American Idol (2002-2016). Since then, Clarkson has had numerous hits and won counts of awards including Grammys and a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host for The Kelly Clarkson Show.
'The Kelly Clarkson Show'
Clarkson uses her daytime talk show to interview guests, participate in various games and activities, and perform covers of other artists' songs, either on her own or with the help of the guest of the day. These covers differentiate Clarkson from the rest, making her show a trailblazer in the talk show world.
The show has won four Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Art Direction/ Set Decoration/ Scenic Design, Outstanding Lighting Direction, Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host, and Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show. The Kelly Clarkson Show was the highest-rated talk show to debut in seven years as well.
The syndicated talk show airs for an hour in 100% of the country on more than 200 stations.
Affect of Covid on the Show
Covid-19 had an effect on all productions. During the beginning of the outbreak, Clarkson filmed from her home in Montana. Once the show was picked up for a second season, Clarkson began filming in studio under Covid-19 protocol and social distancing standards.
Happy to Be Renewed
After a sweep at the Daytime Emmys, it was no surprise that the show was renewed for two additional seasons.
Tracie Wilson, Executive Vice President of NBCUniversal Syndication Studios says The Kelly Clarkson Show is exactly what people need during these unprecedented times.
"One ray of sunshine in this wildly unpredictable year is that we get to continue to deliver to stations and fans a show that brings people together."
Said Valari Staab, President of NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations adds on to Wilson's statement quoting,
"'The Kelly Clarkson Show' is one of the most optimistic success stories in first-run syndication. Kelly is a beloved performer and host with deep roots at NBC and we are delighted to have her continue to be a very important and treasured part of our stations' programming."
The Kelly Clarkson Show will return to NBC for two additional seasons and we can't wait to see what else the creative team at the show will pull out of their sleeve.
