As talk shows return to the studio, Kelly Clarkson took some time during the first episode back to address her recent divorce from Brandon Blackstock, who also serves as an executive producer on her show.
Clarkson returned to her studio on Monday, where virtual fans tuned in via monitor panels. During her monologue, the star addressed her pending divorce from her husband of seven years:
"I'm so glad I can still connect with all of you, though, in my studio because, as you probably know, 2020 has brought a lot of change also to my personal life. Definitely didn't see anything coming that came."
Clarkson goes on to explain how her situation not only impacts her and Blackstock, but also the four kids they share together:
"What I'm dealing with is hard because it involves more than just my heart, it involves a lot of little hearts. We have four kids, and divorce is never easy. We're both from divorce families so we know the best thing here is to protect our children and their little hearts."
Usually a very open person, Clarkson tells with the audience that she will shares things here and there about her divorce, but she will keep most things private:
"I'm usually very open, and I usually talk about everything, but in this case, I will talk a little bit here and there about how it affects me personally but probably won't go too far into it because I'm a mama bear and my kids come first."
After addressing her divorce, Clarkson share that she is doing okay, and will use music as an outlet.
