Kelly Clarkson Gets Candid About 'Difficult' Divorce

It has been two years since Kelly Clarkson divorced her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. The singer recently opened up about the hardships she's since faced.

After seven years of marriage, the couple filed for divorce in June of 2020. On Wednesday, the "Since You Been Gone" artist went on "The Chart Show With Brooke Reese" to reveal what went down in the past two years. She admitted,

“Everybody knows the huge divorce I went through and it’s been, like, two years and not easy with kids."

When Clarkson was asked when fans could expect new music, she replied,

“I’m just navigating what I’m comfortable with releasing. So, it’s a hard thing to navigate. It’s coming. I just got to get my crap together. I just got to figure out what I’m going to release."

Fans aren't the only ones missing her music, the "Because of You" singer opened up about how she has been in a rut.

"I've never had this difficult of a project. It's one of those things where I'm a human, and I'm going through something huge."

Clarkson tied the knot with talent manager Blackstock back in October of 2013. She became a stepmother to his two kids before the couple had two of their own.

Since the divorce, she's had to juggle being a single mother to their two young children. Clarkson described the change as a "whole different dynamic," explaining,

“We have four kids total with each other. That’s a lot of hearts involved, and you just have to be really careful. … We’re in the public eye so that’s hard too, to try and be truthful but also keep your privacy.”
