After announcing the release of the song, Mayer has been promoting and teasing the song all week on social media. He advertised the song on Instagram as "New music, done the old way."

The music video features graphics that make it appear as though the video was shot on a film camera which adds to the vintage feel. Rolling Stonedescribes the video as follows:

"The song, like the album's nostalgic cover art, has an Eighties vibe, as does its accompanying video. The Cameron Duddy and Harper Smith-directed clip finds Mayer and his band recording their live performance of the son."

Sob Rock is going to be Mayer's first album since 2017 and will be available for listening on July 16.
