Jenna Bush Hager, co-host of NBC'sToday with Hoda and Jenna, is paying tribute to her late grandfather and former president George H. W. Bush by partaking in one of his favorite pastimes.
Bush made jumping out of planes a tradition of sorts in his later years, even doing so to commemorate his 90th birthday in 2014.
Hager leaped live on air as fellow Today hosts watched the live feed remotely.
"It feels like floating, but it's one of the most exhilarating, terrifying moments of your life. I feel close to all the people I've been missing," Hager told co-hosts as she hurdled through the sky.
Bush, who passed away in 2018, would've celebrated his 97th on June 12.

On June 7, Hager revealed to co-host Hoda Kotb the reasoning behind her grandfather's skydiving later in life.
"When he was in the Navy, he hit his head when he jumped. He didn't have a clean jump, and he then was rescued. He was 19," Hager explained.
According to Hager, "others on the plane didn't make it," hence why Bush felt the need to continue skydiving, not only to perfect the act but also to honor those who were not so lucky.
