Veronica Mars is back for a fourth season on Hulu, and Jason Dohring tells us all about the revival, playing Veronica's love interest, and the show's loyal fans!
Veronica Mars is a mystery drama television series that aired its first three seasons from 2004 to 2007. Kristen Bell plays the show's lead, a young private investigator in Neptune, California.
The series quickly developed an extremely dedicated following, and fans even raised more than $5 million to fund a movie adaptation that premiered in March 2014. Now, Veronica Mars is back with eight new episodes and another mystery!
"They’re considering [the revival] Season 4, which is crazy because we did the first three seasons like 20 years ago," Jason says. "[Fans have] kept us alive and it feels like [the show]’s even bigger now than it ever was."
The new season revolves around a serial bombing in Neptune, and Veronica Mars is on the case. New additions to the cast include J.K. Simmons and Patton Oswald, and Jason says they "fit seamlessly" in the show.
Jason also talks about the show's popularity, attributing the cult following to the outstanding cast.
“We were a very young cast… every single one of us wanted to do awesome work," Jason says.
Jason plays Logan Echolls, a character who starts out as Veronica's antagonist and evolves into her main love interest over the course of the show. He says the show's writers liked the two characters' mutual hatred so much that they decided to put them together.
"[Logan] was never intended to be boyfriend material or anything like that," Jason says. "It wound up in this romance that was such fireworks because of, I think, the two personalities involved.”
