Two weeks ago, Britney Spears celebrated her newfound freedom with an intimate wedding between her and partner, Sam Asghari. What was supposed to be a private celebration was interrupted when Spears' ex arrived to crash the event.
Jason Alexander, who was married to Spears in 2004, was arrested hours before the ceremony for trespassing, after showing up to the procedure uninvited. While shocking enough on its own, a preliminary hearing on June 27 revealed more distressing details from the intrusion.
Spears' security guard, Richard Eubeler, testified that beyond trespassing on the property, Alexander also attempted to break into Spears' bedroom. While the locked door thwarted his efforts, Spears was reportedly inside the room at the time.
Alexander did not appear at the hearing, where his charge was raised to felony stalking with a prior. He pled not guilty to the felony, as well as to the misdemeanor counts of trespassing, vandalism and battery. While he remains in police custody awaiting $100,000 in bail, he has not yet hired an attorney to speak on his behalf.
In a screen recording of an Instagram Live broadcast, fans saw Alexander as he filmed himself arriving to what he called a "bulls--t wedding." He could be overheard berating a worker at the venue, saying,
"I'm her first husband. I'm here to crash the wedding because nobody is here except Sam. Where the f--k is the family?"
Spears has since obtained a three-year restraining order against Alexander, with an arraignment scheduled for July 12. The hearing will provide the final document of Alexander's charges.
