Jane Lynch, current host of Hollywood Game Night, is set to host the new version of Weakest Link. NBC has given the green light to start production on a 13-episode order for later this year.
Bring on the nostalgia!
Weakest Link debuted in 2001 on NBC, with host Anne Robinson. The game show will revolve around contestants answering trivia questions and then turning on each other at the end of each round to vote out the weakest player. There will be a few modern twists added. Lynch is thrilled to be hosting and says:
"I've been a longtime fan of this game-changing quiz show since it first debuted. Each time the phrase 'You are the Weakest Link. Goodbye' passes my lips, it will be with great reverence and delight."
The president of NBC's reality and alternative group, Meredith Ahr added:
"Weakest Link became an instant fan-favorite when it first aired on our network, and we are excited to bring a fresh, new take to the timeless format. Jane Lynch has been a beloved staple in our NBC family for years, and her sharp wit and engaging personality will be the perfect match for this highly entertaining game show.
Lynch is best known for her roles on Glee and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
