Hulu is cutting the price of its basic, ad-supported streaming service to just $2 a month for U.S. college students.

Starting Monday, college students age 18 and up can sign up for Hulu's new deal of $2 a month. This is one-third of the previously offered deal of $6 a month for all users, and $12 a month for an ad-free subscription.

All U.S. college students are eligible for this discount through providing proof of student status, verified through SheerID. The identity marketing platform confirms eligibility by collecting users' information and college credentials in the sign-up process.

The discounted, ad-supported plan still offers the same services as a regular plan, with unlimited access to movies and TV shows such as Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Family Guy, Superstore, The Masked Singer, The Bachelorette, Keeping up with the Kardashians, and much more.

Hulu has offered perks to college students in the past, such as its partnership with Spotify. The Premium for Students plan provides unlimited, ad-free music in addition to Hulu's ad-supported plan and a SHOWTIME subscription, all for $4.99 a month.

Students can sign up for the new $2 a month subscription at hulu.com/student.
