Hal Holbrook, an actor with a long, award winning career, passed away in his home at the age of 95 on January 23rd. His death was confirmed by his assistant Joyce Cohen on Monday night.

Holbrook had many successful film and television roles. He played Abraham Lincoln in a successful 1974 miniseries on the 16th president. He came to international fame for playing Deep Throat in All The President's Men, and was nominated an Oscar for his role in the 2007 film Into the Wild.
But Holbrook was undoubtedly best known for his one man show Mark Twain Tonight! which he developed while studying at Denison University. In this one man show, he portrayed and embodied the character of the legendary author and comedian for over six decades, finally retiring the character in 2017 at the age of 92. In later years, he portrayed Preston Blair in Steven Spielberg'sLincoln.
He was also nominated for five Primetime Emmy Awards for his various performances in The Bold Ones.
Holbrook was an incredible, award winning actor who received acclaim and praise in every aspect of the industry he touched, from Broadway to the big screen.
He is survived by three children and was buried alongside his late wife, Dixie Carter.
