HBO's critically-acclaimed dark comedy "Hacks" dropped a season two trailer and this time, the crew is hitting the road!
"Hacks" season two will see Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder reprise their roles as Deborah and Ava!
The story follows Deborah Vance, a stand-up comedian, and Ava, a writer for Deborah, looking to go on tour across the country for stand-up acts that could bring the legendary comedian back on her feet. Seen in the trailer, Deborah states "on this tour, it’s all about back to basics."
Also seen in the trailer is a new ensemble of guests including comedians Martha Kelly ("Euphoria"), Ming-Na Wen ("The Book of Boba Fett"), Laurie Metcalf, Margaret Cho, Susie Essman, and Devon Sawa. Carl Clemons-Hopkins is returning as Deborah’s COO, as well as Marcus Paul W. Downs, as the women’s agent Jimmy LuSaque, and Jane Adams as Ava’s mother Nina.
Season one had a spectacular run, earning 15 Emmy nominations.
Smart told ET that she believes the second season will live up to and maybe even pass the expectations that season one set.
“I think it’s going to be every bit as good as season one if not better, because second seasons are always scary. Especially if you’re a big hit the first season, everybody’s going, ‘OK, just show me.’" Smart said.
"Hacks" season two premieres May 12 on HBO Max.
