We're recapping last night's dramatic episode of Grey Anatomy winter finale.
Good news is that Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) has finally woken up! She appears to be doing better for being asleep for eight days and wishes she could help everyone out battling the pandemic. As for Tom Koracick (Greg German) he begins to be doing better until he at a loss for words when his roommate dies in front of him. To get his emotions off his chest, Meredith and Tom meet up to discuss some dark issues and exchange some laughs.
Due to hospitals reaching capacity in Seattle, Grey Solan will be taking on more patients. Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.) believes it will cause a surge capacity protocol and makes Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) nervous and refuses to go home. She worries about exposing her family to COVID since she lost her grandmother. Richard is concerned and afraid for his collegues stating:
"Pretty soon we're going to start losing our own, not to the disease but to the toll it's taking."
Do you remember the same sex trafficking woman from last season? Well, she has returned to Grey Solan and last season Dr. Andrew DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti) tried to have her arrested. She searching for the two young girls who escaped their kidnapper by starting a fire. After seeing her walk around and leaving the hospital, Andrew and Carina (Stefania Spaminato) team up to follow her.
Ameila and Maggie share a deep conversation. Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone) talks to Maggie (Kelly McCreary) about the sex trafficker she had to save. Maggie then shares moment to reveal her thought and knowing that it isn't one monstrous sex trafficker. Maggie shares with Amelia that Black women are "seen as disposable and rarely seen as victims" and she is angry how Black women are being treated in this world. Then Meredith hears a patient flatlining and no doctors around but her. Meredith performs CPR and intubating her, but when Taryn Helm (Jaicy Elliot) she collapses. Uh oh!
It has been obvious that Owen (Kevin McKidd) and Teddy (Kim Raver) are avoiding each and they finally decide to talk. Owen tells her that he doesn't want to keep punishing her. Teddy reveals her emotions to him she was madly in love with Allison. It was the only secret she kept from Owen before Tom. She knowns that how it is all connected in what she did to Allison. Teddy doesn't have all the answers and tells Owen:
I love you," she says. "And I love our kids, and I loved our family, even if it's over.
Owen laughs and thinks he never knew Teddy and says to her:
You named our daughter after a lie
Meredith is getting worse and Teddy thinks it's time to put her on ventilator. Bailey says that knows Meredith wouldn't have wanted that and Richard says that she wouldn't want a vent unless it was the absolute last measure. A decision needs to be made as Meredith lungs are breaking and Richard set on saving her life. The episode brings viewers back to Meredith on the beach. This leaves us with a cliffhanger!
Will Meredith live? We need to know! Grey Anatomy returns on March 4 on ABC.
