In a Buzzfeed interview with Kendrick, Lively said this regarding her A Simple Favor character :

"I guess, you know, I was on a TV show for six years where I played a girl from the Upper East Side who wore lots of pretty clothes, and so this was a fashion woman who works on the Upper East Side. I wanted it to be a very different look and vibe than that, so that's one of the reasons why I ended up in men's suits."

"I think there's a way of seeing Joe as the first time we've represented this kind of character in a responsible fashion, because to the degree that we are making him romantic and charming and glamorous, we are still being like "Yeah, but he kills four people and then Beck. What more can we tell you about his character than that?" Badgley said.

Taylor Momsen, Dan Humphrey's little sister Jenny on the show, has shied away from acting since 2012 and primarily focuses on her band The Pretty Reckless.
