Tina and Amy Brough the Roasts

The two iconic hosts simulcast their monologue from Los Angeles and New York, and they did a weirdly good job of looking like they were on the same screen.

Though they kept it playful, there were some big jabs thrown from Tina and Amy last night. Personal favorites include:

"Emily in Parisis nominated for best TV series, musical or comedy, and I can't wait to find out which it is."

"We all know that awards shows are stupid. They're all a scam, invented by Big Red Carpet to sell more carpet, we know that. But even with stupid things, inclusivity is important, and there are no black members of the Hollywood Foreign Press. I realize, HFPA, maybe you guys didn't get the memo because your workplace is the back booth of a French McDonald's, but you gotta change that. So here's to changing it."

Daniel? Daniel Can You Hear Us?

"Oh, I wish I could hear him" said Jared Leto during the muted speech Daniel Kaluuya gave last night. The actor was having technical difficulties, but, in perhaps the comeback of the evening, he reclaimed his speech time, and actually delivered one of the best of the evening, quoting the late rapper Nipsey Hussle.

'Borat' Wins Big

Sacha Baron Cohen had himself a night last night, winning Best Actor and Best Film in the Comedy categories, thanking a new, up and coming actor whose creativity and humor made it possible to make the Borat ​sequel so funny. Is he talking about his young, incredible co-star Maria Bakalova? Actually, no, he's talking about Rudy Giuliani.

'Mank' Gets a Big Swing and a Miss

Mank, a callback to 1930s Hollywood about the making of Citizen Kane, actually lead all films in nominations with six, and lead all films in losses with six. There have been worse nights for a film at an award show, but still overall a disappointment for Gary Oldman and crew.

Chloé Zhao Takes Home Best Director

Only the second woman to ever win the award, and the first woman of Asian descent, Chinese director Chloé Zhao took home the Best Director award for her incredible film Nomadlandlast night, which also took home Best Picture in a Drama.

Big Night for Schitt's Creek, but Not as Big as Expected

They didn't quite have the night they did at the Emmys, but Dan Levy and crew still had a big night, with Catherine O'Hara taking home Best Actress for a TV Series and Schitt's Creekitself winning Best Comedy series.

But no one's going to scoff at two Golden Globes, especially when you already have that many Emmys.

Simone Boseman accepted the award on behalf of her late husband, who won his first Golden Globe posthumously for Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, and as soon as she showed up on the screen we all knew we'd be sad.
