Most theaters are opening back up with safety precautions in tact, bringing in fans who miss the human connection of a movie theater, which was proved by the success of Godzilla vs. Kong's (2021) first weekend.
North America Sales
With around 3,064 movie theaters opening up around North America, Godzilla vs. Kong has made a whopping $48.5 million from Wednesday to Sunday alone.
At theaters, seating still caps at 50% leading experts to predict sales would have been much greater had it been a non-Covid era.
Oversea Sales
Overseas, the action flick has made $236.9 million with $136 million coming from China. With the film costing around $155 million to make, statistics seem to be going well for the Warner Bros film.
What it Suggests for Other Films
The success of the Adam Wingard directed film suggests audiences are reedy to begin experiencing the human connectivity of a movie theater once again. With this being the largest turnout by a movie since the pandemic, things are looking up for cinema and movie theaters everywhere.
Godzilla vs. Kong is available for view at theaters everywhere or on HBO Max.
