Glass Animal's hit single Heat Waves has finally made its way to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 after 59 weeks.

The record for longest run on the chart by a song before reaching No.1 was previously set by Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas Is You, which remained on the Billboard Hot 100 for 35 weeks before reaching the summit in December 2019.

Glass Animals overwhelmingly shattered Carey's record with an almost 60-week run. The group is also ending the five-week run of Encanto's popular anthemWe Don’t Talk About Bruno at the No. 1 spot.

Heat Waves, which came out in June 2020, has seen an unprecedented rise to the top as it continuously dominates the radio as well as social media platforms like TikTok.

This is the UK group's first entry on the Billboard Hot 100, and they are certainly bringing the heat.

The band, made up of childhood friends Dave Bayley, Edmund Irwin-Singer, Drew MacFarlane, and Joe Seaward, continues to ride the momentum as they are nominated for best new artist at the Grammy Awards in April of this year.
