Gigi Hadid's FAO Schwarz Makeover
FAO Schwarz is a toy store that has been etched into the public consciousness, whether its from its association with Christmas, or Tom Hanks playing an oversized piano in 'Big'. It's also known for its real-life toy soldiers -- a timeless staple of the iconic retailer. Just in time for this holiday season, the ever-stylish Gigi Hadid has stepped in to modernize those soldiers' red uniforms for a new generation.
“I’m a huge FAO Schwarz fan, and I grew up an FAO Schwarz fan, and, when they asked me to be a part of the creative process and make this uniform, I was just so excited.” Gigi Hadid
The updated look made its debut during a private event in New York City, at Bloomingdales 59th Street store -- and, yes, there was a giant piano.
Hot off of her multi-season collaboration with Tommy Hilfiger, Hadid is no stranger to fashion design. Her interpretation of the toy soldier uniform is contemporary and relevant while honoring the heritage of the brand.
Notably -- the collection also includes the first women’s toy soldier uniform.
If you want to take a selfie with the newly equipped troops, you can find them deployed at stores and popups around the world, including the new FAO Schwarz flagship at New York City's 30 Rockefeller Plaza -- opening November 16.
