What is Dead May Never Die!
After a rough final season, there's good news in store for Game of Thrones fans. The hit HBO show has released more details on their upcoming series set to take place 5000 years before the events of Game of Thrones.Â
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R Martin (who is executive-producing the prequel) revealed some new details about the show! Although HBO has yet to release a name for the series, we now know that the show will include the Starks, the family centered in the original series. Martin also told Entertainment Weekly that the series will include direwolves and mammoths, two species that should play big roles in the upcoming show, especially since it leads up to the birth of the White Walkers.
While GOT's original writers are working on the next Star Wars trilogy, George R.R Martin is leading the charge with a fresh cast and crew. The series has casted some familiar faces such as Naomi Watts and Josh Whitehouse, while Jane Goldman will be the showrunner. Goldman recently worked as a writer on Kingsman: The Secret Service and X-Men: First Class.

With most details of the show kept under-wraps, we do know that the series will tell Westoros' untold history, "chronicling the world's descent from the Golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour." For those who aren't obsessed with GOT history like myself, the Age of Heroes was the ancient time when The First Men and The Children of the Forest joined forces to stop the deadly White Walkers, followed by the construction of The Wall and Winterfell. This is roughly the same time period as 'The Long Night', a winter that lasted a century and until recently, the last time a White Walker had been seen by humans.
After a gut-punch of a finale, many GOT fans are hoping for some sort of redemption from the franchise. Hopefully this series can give fans the closure we need in a wilder and unfamiliar Westoros.
