In an interview with The Boston Globe, The King of Staten IslanddirectorJudd Apatow revealed he is working on a documentary on the life of comedian George Carlin.
Apatow shared the status of the project with The Boston Globe:
"I'm about to start work with my partner Michael Bonfiglio on a documentary about George Carlin. So I'm looking forward to watching a lot of Carlin interviews and specials. I think his work turned out to be very prophetic."
George Carlin might be one of the most prolific comedians of all time. He filmed 14 HBO comedy specials, and is most known for his stand-up routine "Seven Words You Can Never Say On Television" which landed him in hot water with the use of obscene language. The routine was even brought to the Supreme Court regarding censorship. Carlin's humor was not always politically correct, yet his insightful observations were always unique.
Back in 2008, just four months after filming his last comedy special It's Bad for Ya, Carlin passed away at the age of 71 due to cardiac arrest. That same year, he was awarded the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. In 2017, he was ranked by Rolling Stone as second best comedian just behind Richard Pryor.
