Nathanya Alexander from HBO Max's new series Genera+iontalked with our Hollywood Insider Arthur Kade about her role in the show and how the series is inspiring its viewers.

2021 has been a breakthrough year for many on the LGBTQIA+ spectrum, and there is increasingly more visibility for queer characters and storylines. In Arthur's interview with the star, she describes the show:

"Generation is a modern take on sexuality and identity... the show follows a group of high school teenagers as they navigate their lives; the messy, fluid, confusing, and emotional journey of it all."

Alexander plays Arianna, who she says is a "gift" because she is able to become a whole different person while she embodies her character. However, this is not the first time we've seen Alexander on our screens. She played Rihanna's sister in Ocean's 8 back in 2018. On getting the opportunity to act alongside Rihanna, Alexander says:

"She's amazing to work with. She's so talented and she's one of my idols so working with her was an absolute dream."

Now, Alexander has become an inspiration to many fans of the show through her work. She explains what that means for those who watch Genera+ion:

"Our younger viewers, they love the show. They feel seen and represented on screen, and our older audience, they're getting an insight to Gen Z and they're learning things that they wouldn't have learned otherwise."
