The film, which has been delayed three times due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is set to hit theaters August 13, 2021.
Jodie Comer may have put something inside me. Or Taika? Not entirely sure, but the wait to find out is almost over. #FreeGuy FINALLY hits theaters August 13th! Hallelujah! p.s. I love this movie so hard.pic.twitter.com/6s0wlVT41I— Ryan Reynolds (@Ryan Reynolds) 1623327332
The film's original release date was July 3, 2020. Due to COVID-19, the release date moved to December 11, 2020. Fans quickly lost hope for Free Guy when it was removed from the studio's upcoming release schedule until further notice. Then, Free Guy got its third release date, May 21, 2021. But in March of this year, Reynolds announced that Free Guy would be getting delayed for a third time. In true Ryan Reynolds fashion, the announcement of the film's fourth and (hopefully) final release date was prefaced by a humorous bit which pokes fun at the numerous delays.

The new trailer also came with the reveal of a new poster. Reynolds' co-stars include Killing Eve'sJodie Comer, Get Out's Lil Rel Howery, Pitch Perfect's Utkarsh Ambudkar, Stranger Things'Joe Keery, and Thor: Ragnarok's Taika Waititi. The film is also said to have cameos from some professional gamers like Ninja as well as some of Reynolds' actor friends like Hugh Jackman, Dwayne Johnson, Tina Fey and John Krasinski.

Free Guy tells the story of a bank teller named Guy who becomes aware that he is actually a non-player character (NPC) in a video game that is going to be shut down by the developers.
After three delays, let's hope third time's the charm. Free Guy hits theaters August 13, 2021.
