WATCH: Everything Happening at Comic-Con and Movie Theaters This Weekend

Happy Friday! With the weekend just getting started, Sonia Isabelle is here to help break down the latest Hollywood news on today's episode of The Dish.

The biggest event in the comic world is going virtual for the second year in a row. Although Marvel and DC have opted to sit this one out, there are still plenty of panels for comic book fans to look forward to including, The Walking Dead, Doctor Who, and more. With hundreds of thousands of fans tuning into the virtual convention last year, this year's event is sure to be just as exciting if not more. Stream those panels and more on YouTube now.

G.I. Joe is among the franchises sharing content at Comic-Con. Their new origins film, Snake Eyes, is taking the world by storm. Snake Eyes is a mysterious character who goes on to join the G.I. Joe organization; the film tells his origin story. The titular character is played by Crazy Rich Asiansbreakout star Henry Golding.

"Putting on the suit just to finish off the whole look was crazy it was unbelievable. You cannot help but feel like a superhero."

That was Golding on what it was like to portray the ninja warrior. This film is the third installment in the G.I. Joe film series with 2009's G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and 2013's G.I. Joe: Retaliation serving as the first two installments. Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins is in theaters now.

Something else new in movie theaters this weekend is Mark Wahlberg starring in a heartfelt, dramatic film called Joe Bell. The true story follows a man who makes it his mission to put a stop to bullying after his son takes his own life. Jadin Bell is played by Reid Miller who had this to say about working with Wahlberg:

"Mark is a great guy. He's very kind and he's open-minded and very, very welcoming."

Wahlberg is no stranger to being a dramatic actor. In fact, he earned an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Martin Scorsese's The Departed. Additionally, he received praise for his contribution to David O. Russell's The Fighter as both star and producer. Joe Bell is in theaters now.

Also hitting theaters this weekend is Val, a documentary that documents the life of the great Val Kilmer. Kilmer has portrayed iconic characters in such movies as The Doors, Top Gun, Heat, Tombstone, and of course, Batman Forever. Kilmer's voice has been impacted by his throat cancer diagnosis. To help tell his life story, Kilmer's son Jack lends his voice to the film as the narrator. Val is in theaters now and is streaming on Amazon Prime Video August 6th.
