At the Ted Lasso premiere, Jason Sudeikis wore a black sweatshirt with the names of the black soccer players who have been receiving abuse online after the England team was defeated by Italy in Euro 2020 last weekend.

Bukayo Saka, Marcus Rashford, and Jadon Sancho missed penalty shots in a 3-2 shootout in the game on Sunday and as a result of that have been in the middle of hate and racist abuse online. Racism isn't new to the England national team's fanbase however. The team have previously knelt before each of their games to show their solidarity as a team and that they are fighting for equality. This was unfavored by some fans of the team, as they would boo when the players were kneeling.

Ted Lasso is an American football coach who gets hired to coach a professional English soccer team with no experience. In a trailer for season two, it shows Lasso's team getting eight tie games, so clearly the team isn't doing too hot. They decide to bring in a sports psychologist, which will be a new character played by Sarah Niles.
