The 'Looney Tunes' Reboot On HBO Max Is Gun-Free

Looney Tunes

HBO Max's reboot of Looney Tunes Cartoons looks a little different than what we are used to.

Looney Tunes EP and showrunner Peter Browngardt announced recently that Elmer Fudd and the rest of the characters will not be using guns in the reboot of the series.

The Telegraph reports that decision to remove guns in the new series is due to the ongoing issues of gun violence in the United States. However, the series is not shying away from its roots. The reboot of Looney Tunes still resembles what the show in the past looked like. The video above is a clip from the new series with Fudd using a scythe instead of his well-known shotgun. Browngardt tells the New York Times:

"We're not doing guns. But we can do cartoony violence - TNT, the Acme stuff. All that was kind of grandfathered in."

Although this is a different approach to the series, it is an innovative way for the creators to bring back the timeless television show but transforming it to be relevant for today's youth.

The new series is allowing a new generation to enjoy the show that is loved by many, even without the presence of guns. Original characters including Bugs Bunny, Tweety Bird, Daffy Duck and more are coming to life again with all new adventures. The nostalgic cartoons mixed with new and improved storylines makes this series enjoyable for everyone in the family to watch.

Looney Tunes Cartoons is streaming now on HBO Max.
