Drew Barrymore has apologized for her comments about the ongoing Johnny Depp defamation trial he brought against his ex-wife Amber Heard.
Depp is suing Heard after she alluded to their allegedly abusive relationship in an op-ed piece written for The Washington Post. Barrymore called the trial “a seven-layer dip of insanity” on "The Drew Barrymore Show."
“It’s like one layer of crazy. It’s a seven-layer dip of insanity. I know that these are two people’s real lives, and I know what it’s like to have your life put out in public,” Barrymore said. “I understand all the feelings, but they are actually offering up this information that nobody had to know. This is crazy!”
On Sunday, the star took to Instagram to apologize for speaking lightly about the matter.
At the end of the video, she thanked everyone for “helping her grow” along the way and “teaching her” to become the best version of herself.
The trial began with jury selection on April 11, and it's expected to last around seven weeks. Depp alleged that Heard lied about being a victim of domestic abuse, in which she implied he was the abuser in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed about domestic violence.
The trial in question is well underway in Fairfax County, Virginia. Heard fired her PR team on Thursday, April 28, over a slew of recent “bad headlines” in the latest development.
