Downton Abbey's Joanne Froggatt is taking on a new kind of role in the thrilling series Angela Black.
The Emmy-nominated actress, known for her portrayal of Anna Bates on the acclaimed British drama Downton Abbey, will be playing the titular role of Angela Black.
“She has a beautiful home, has two beautiful children, a beautiful husband, but when you scratch the surface... the reality is extremely different and she's actually in a very abusive relationship. She’s at a point in her life where she's lost her sense of self. She's lost her her voice,” Froggatt said.
The Hitchcock-style thriller is sure to have fans on the edge of their seats.
"The story is just full of twists and turns and it's also a story that when you look back... something that's seemingly insignificant is actually very important."
The actress has also been busy as she reprises her role of Mrs. Bates in Downton Abbey: A New Era.
The second film in the hit franchise is set to premiere in May of this year.
"There's a big trip. There's some visitors to the house which causes stir and that's pretty much all I'm allowed to say."
In the meantime, be sure to check out Joanne in Angela Black, streaming now on Spectrum Originals.
