Ella Emhoff, daughter of Doug Emhoff and stepdaughter of Vice President Harris, made her runway debut at New York Fashion Week on Thursday, Feb. 18!
The 21-year-old's appearance on the runway in Proenza Schouler's show is said to have been a surprise.
She showed off three different looks from the label's Fall/Winter 2021 line, including one of a stunning fitted black suit, another of a long gray trench coat paired with matching baggy trousers, and the third a black and yellow turtle neck with a black leather trench coat.
This is no surprise given the college student's show-stopping outfit she debuted on Inauguration Day: a long plaid Miu Miu coat topped with bejeweled shoulders. She also designed her dress with American fashion designer Batsheva Hay.
Just a week after her step-mother's inauguration, it was confirmed Ella had been signed a deal with IMG Models. The model had previously been off-and-on modeling with another agent, but wanted to be a part of something bigger. She told the New York Times:
"As someone who, like a lot of young girls out there, had self-confidence issues, it is intimidating and scary to go into this world that is hyper-focused on you and the body."
She was drawn to the diversity in the business and "wanted to be apart of that change."
Ella also currently attends Parsons School of Design in New York City and majors in apparel and textiles.
