HBO's most buzzed-about murder mystery, The Undoing, is a "whodunnit" story starring Nicole Kidman, Hugh Grant, and acting veteran Donald Sutherland. He sat down with Advocate Channel to talk behind the scenes of the limited series that had viewers on the edge of their seats this past fall.
The show follows Grace Fraser (Kidman), a well-to-do mother with a successful career in therapy and a devoted husband. Overnight, her life gets flipped upside down and ensues a murder mystery. Viewers are lead through the first season as they try to uncover who the killer is.
When we asked the show's Donald Sutherland if any of his family or friends asked for a spoiler, he replied "No, and more than that I didn't know! We didn't get the sixth [and final] scrip until just before we shot it. Seriously!" Sutherland received a Critics Choice Award for his role as Franklin Reinhardt, a.k.a. Grace's father.
The Undoing
The first season is also now available on Blu-ray and DVD that will have even more behind-the-scenes features. "We seem very nice and very happily married," said Hugh Grant to co-star Nicole Kidman in a clip. "Crazy about you," she chimed in about her character. However, everything is not what it seems when it comes to this show.
Kidman was intrigued by the role of Grace in the show and was ecstatic to get the chance to play her. She told Flare magazine that she enjoyed "working with a great director and a fantastic writer, David E. Kelley, who had worked out this intricate psychological map for this woman, and to have the opportunity to put that on screen for six hours was really exciting to me." Kidman was also an executive producer on the show.
The Undoing is available now to stream on HBO, and on Blu-ray and DVD.
