The 2021 Tokyo Olympics are set to begin! If you've ever wondered what it takes to become an Olympic gymnast, this docuseries is a must-see.
Legendary gymnast Dominique Dawes' participated in the project as a co-producer and she's just as determined as she was on the floor to document the years of struggle, sacrifice and resolve it takes to even make it to the Olympics.
"This is showing the full journey of a handful of Olympic hopefuls that may or may not make the Olympic team," Dawes said.
Dominique's gymnastics career included four World Championships, 15 National Championships, and was highlighted by becoming the first African-American to win an individual event medal (bronze) at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
As a member of the Magnificent Seven, she took home a gold in the team events that year as well. Despite the success and acclaim, Dominique is quick to point out that the years of training and competing "took a toll." It was her fans, including Simone Biles, that kept her competing.
"I aways wanted to quit the sport of gymnastics, it was very difficult, but I remember what would keep me motivated were my fans or were the young little gymnasts that were aspiring to be like me... You know, I feel very honored and very humbled."
