'Days Of Our Lives' Reaches This HUGE Milestone

8023 Soap Opera Digest

The show is coming up on its 55th year!

Days of our Lives has been a part of our lives for almost 55 years! Soap Opera Digest editorial director Stephanie Sloane joins us to talk about the milestone and more updates from the latest edition.

'Days of our Lives' is celebrating 55 years!

Not only is 'Days of our Lives' the last surviving soap opera on NBC, the fan favorite show is celebrating 55 years this November! With five episodes a week for 55 years, that's over fourteen thousand episodes.

The only other shows to surpass 55 years are General Hospital (57 years) and Guiding Light (68 years).

Technically, the anniversary of the first episode was November 8th. But, to celebrate the monumental milestone, NBC is hosting a virtual fan event November 21st.

The cast of Days will come together online for a virtual tour of the set, fun games, and a Q&A.

Over thirty cast members have confirmed their appearance for the special.

Even the fans on twitter can't believe it has been that long!

In other Soap Opera news, there is of course a few upcoming casting changes!

Actress Jane Elliot is making a return to General Hospital in the role of "Tracy." She first appeared on the show back in 1978 and quickly became a fan favorite.

Amanda Setton is also returning to General Hospital. The actress left the show on a temporary maternity leave earlier this year with Briana Lane filling in for her role. Lane will exit the show with the return of Setton.

Last but not least, Heather Lindell will be exiting Days of our Lives later this month. The actress who plays "Jan" on the series will make her final appearance on the show November 24th. It is unlikely that her character will come back in the future.
