D.L. Hughley recently discussed his collapse and COVID-19 diagnosis with Anthony Anderson. Hughley says he didn't have "any of the classic symptoms" of the virus.
Guest Host Anthony Anderson for Jimmy Kimmel Live!asked D.L. Hughley about his asymptomatic COVID-19 experience.
Hughley had a frightening collapse during a live stand-up set in Nashville last month. He was quickly carried off the stage and was taken to a nearby hospital. Hughley revealed a day later that he tested positive for coronavirus. He recalls his subsequent COVID-19 diagnosis:
"I'd been dehydrated. I knew I was burning the candle at both ends and I knew I was running a little low. So, I wasn't really shocked when I passed out. I was shocked when I got to the hospital."
Hughley goes on to say:
"If you go to the hospital for anything nowadays, you're gonna get a COVID test. So, they told me I was dehydrated, they told me that my electrolytes were low. They wanted to run some other tests. 'Oh! And you got COVID.' I'm like, 'What?!'
The comedian warns that he did not suffer from the common symptoms of COVID-19. He says:
"I didn't have the cough, I didn't have the fever, I didn't have the shortness of breath, I didn't have the loss of taste. What I had was passing the hell out. That's what I had."
Hughley also warns that we have to do our part to get COVID-19 under control.
