Christina Ricci, Wednesday Addams actress in "the Addams Family" film franchise, has joined the upcoming Tim Burton series adaptation for Netflix.

Christina Ricci is keeping it creepy and kooky.

The actress, who played Wednesday Addams in the 1990s "Addams Family" films, is back for Tim Burton's upcoming Netflix series, "Wednesday," only not as Wednesday.

Instead, "Scream" and "You" star Jenny Ortega is taking on the role, leaving a new, unrevealed role for Ricci.

Netflix describes the series as "an eight-episode, sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams' years as a student at Nevermore Academy."

In addition, they reveal,

"Wednesday will attempt to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore."

The cast also includes Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams and Gwendoline Christie as Larissa Weems. The scripts were written by "Smallville" creators Al Gough and Miles Millar, with Burton set to direct all eight episodes.

Thora Birch, who played Tamara Novak, left the series in December citing a "personal matter." Deadline reported most of her scenes had already been filmed, adding,

"The role will not be recast, with producers looking to add a new character to the show's first season. It is unclear whether that character will take over for Tamara and help close out her planned storyline with both of them co-existing on the show or whether the new character will replace Tamara and Birch's scenes will be reshot."

It's unclear if Ricci's casting has to do with Brich's departure, or if her new character will replace Tamara.

As filming is ongoing, no release date has yet been set. In the meantime, we can all give the 90s movies a rewatch before we can see Ricci again on Netflix.
