Paramount and eOne are in collaboration to produce the highly anticipated and big-budgeted adaptation of the beloved Hasbro game Dungeons & Dragons, rumored to star Chris Pine.

Chris Pine has been very busy this year from working on Wonder Woman 1984, Don't Worry Darling, and more. He is now in talks to star in the newest Dungeons & Dragons.

A Fight for the Rights

In 2000, New Line produced the first film adaptation of Dungeons & Dragons starring Jeremy Irons, the voice of Scar from The Lion King (1994).

Since then. the game whose rights are controlled by Hasbro have been in a legal battle between multiple production companies attempting to adapt the game for a modern film. In 2015, it looked as though Warner Bros were set to produce the film starring Ansel Elgort, widely known as Gus from The Fault in Our Stars (2014).

That didn't seem to pan out as now the rights are granted to Paramount who has a production and distribution deal with Hasbro.

Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley are set to direct the new film. The two are no strangers to one another as they worked on New Line's Game Night (2018).

The previous draft of the film, written by Michael Gilio, was the foundation for the latest version of the script written by Goldstein and Daley.

The World Of Dungeons & Dragons

The world of D&D is known for war and treasure occupied by humans, elves, and millions of other creatures. The game uses multisided dice during the role play and is overseen by the Dungeon Master.

Chris Pine: A Busy Man

While Chris Pine is only in talks to star in the adaptation, Pine has been keeping busy with a multitude of other projects. Pine is recurring his role as Steve Trevor in the second Wonder Woman film, Wonder Woman 1984 coming out December 25.

Pine also plays James Harper in Tarik Saleh's Violence of Action, which is currently in post-production. Pine is also currently filming Olivia Wilde's Don't Worry Darling and Janus Metz's All the Old Knives.
