After almost three years of marriage, Cheryl Burke is ending her marriage to actor Matthew Lawerence.
According to legal documents, the Dancing With The Stars dancer filed for dissolution of marriage in Los Angeles County Courts on February 18, 2022.
She cited irreconcilable differences as the reason behind the split. The divorce process shouldn't be too tricky because the estranged couple has a prenuptial agreement.
Six months ago, Burke opened up on the possibility of having children with Lawrence on The Tamron Hall Show.
She said,
"Dancing with the Stars is a huge accomplishment, and I am grateful for that experience. But I'm not like these other girls who just had babies and can just bounce back. I know my body, but I also, more importantly, know my own mental health, and if I have this body image issue that I'm dealing with, again, if this is not okay, I can't perform."
Last year, the dancer opened up about her struggle to stay sober after their first wedding anniversary. She revealed on the "Pretty Messed Up" podcast that she was "triggered" when their Hawaii hotel sent a bottle of champagne.
Without sharing too many details, Burke admitted,
"I have a lot of personal stuff going on right now at the moment, and so it's been very… I feel like I'm walking on a really tight rope at the moment."
The famous former couple tied the knot on May 23, 2019. According to reports, the couple started dating back in 2017 but met in 2006, after Lawrence's brother, Joey, was cast on 'DWTS.'
The couple dated for a few years following their meeting but got back together in 2017. Lawrence proposed to the professional dancer on her 34th birthday, and in the spring of 2019, they tied the knot at Fairmont Grand Del Mar in San Diego.
